Q. As the villa is on 3 floors do the downstairs bedrooms all have windows?
A. Yes, and so does the shower room downstairs too. We do have security bars on the outside of the windows and you can unlock the ones in the double bedroom if you need to exit in an emergency. We also have emergency lighting downstairs too in case of a power cut which is not very often but is there as a precaution and for Health and Safety purposes. The villa also has smoke detectors on each floor and fire extinguishers. So everything is covered. In the height of the summer, most people opt to sleep downstairs as it is so much cooler and stays at an ambient temperature all season.
Q. How far is the villa from the Main town of Hisaronu?
A. Literally just 5 minutes from all the shops and restaurants but nestled quietly in the Pine Forest of Hisaronu. We are not in Ovacik, like other villas are, which say they are in Hisaronu.
Q. If our return flight back to the UK is late at night, where can we go until our transfer pick up?
A. I know the flight arrival times of each customer and if their flight coming in is late then it is possible you can remain at the villa provided it is kept immaculate for the next guests. If there is a cross over I will let you know and in this case, you may be able to use the facilities of a neighbouring hotel as long as you are outside the villa for your return transfer time.
Q. Should I get my Turkish Lira in the UK or wait until I get to Turkey?
A. The best Exchange Rates are in the Resort. I suggest you bring a small amount of Turkish Lira but bring Sterling Cash/Travellers Cheques to exchange into Turkish Lira once you arrive in Hisaronu. You can use any of the Money Exchange Centres or the Post Office and they do not charge commission or you can use the Banks in Fethiye. Do not change any at Dalaman Airport they have bad Exchange Rates. There are also plenty of Cash Point Machines in Hisaronu too which take British Debit/Credit cards and give out Turkish Lira. There is interest charged on those transactions and the Exchange Rate can fluctuate. Lastly, In Resort a lot of shops, Bars and Restaurants will accept Sterling and often have prices in both Turkish Lira and Sterling. When Sterling is used your change will either be given in Sterling or Turkish Lira.
Q. How safe is the resort with regards to crime?
A. Like anywhere you have to be vigilant. There have been reported thefts in the area over recent years, so I would ask you to keep valuables locked away or out of sight when not in use and we would advise you not to give your whereabouts to locals in Bars/Restaurants as they will know you are not at home. If asked the question about your stay, you can simply give them the name of a local Hotel. By using caution you can feel assured you are in control. We have made our villa as safe and secure as we can possibly make it without detracting from its charm and friendly appeal.
Q. Is it true that Dalaman Airport is expensive for food and drinks?
A. Yes. Since they built the new airport they charge too much for food and drinks. We advise you to eat a good meal before you leave for the airport or take a packed lunch in your Hand Luggage to eat at the Airport. However, with increased security at Dalaman Airport they will confiscate any liquids over 100ml, so perhaps take a packed lunch without drinks and just buy them whilst you are there.
Q. Do they charge 20 USD for everyone that enters Turkey?
A. Yes, and that includes children. If you are travelling from other European Countries or other Countries such as the USA or Canada the charge is in that currency, i.e. Euros and Dollars. The amounts can be different too. Check the board at the Customs Point. The Visa is valid for 90 days within 180 days.
Q. Is the villa suitable for the elderly?
A. The villa is built on a slight slope and is built on three floors, so wheelchair access is quite difficult, however, provided they are mobile they will be able to walk the short stretch to the road and the villa has a Toilet on the ground floor to save on using the ones upstairs and downstairs on a regular basis.
Q. Do we need to have Injections for travelling to Turkey?
A. It is not mandatory if you keep to the tourist areas around the coastline. If, however you wish to trek into remote areas then it would be advisable to have injections.
Q. Are there telephone numbers in the villa for emergencies?
A. Yes, there are telephone numbers for Doctors, Hospitals and also general phone numbers for Maintenance, Housekeeping, Excursions and of course our details if you need to contact us whilst you are there.
Q. Is it true that you no longer buy your visa at the airport in Turkey but you have to now buy it online before you fly?
A. Yes. From April 2014 they no longer accept visa entry at the airport and you have to buy it online which is in US Dollars and approximately £12 to £14. It has to be for each person flying out. The link to the site is: https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/turkey/entry-requirements
